Scheduled
IAA engineers will be performing emergency scheduled maintenance on pe1.syd3 located at Equinix SY3 to resolve a reachability issue between a subset of connected peers.

The work will see this switch rebooted twice, once to remove stacking and once to upgrade the firmware.

Members located on slot 1 of this stacked switch will also be physically migrated to slot 2, with slot 1 being retired from service.

Peers connected to this switch should expect a complete outage of all services for up to 60 minutes.

Before the work commences, IAA engineers will apply BCP214 compliant filters to ports, and ports will then be disabled for the duration of the work.

As part of this window, we will also take this opportunity to replace the 8x 10G uplinks with 2x 40G uplinks which will resolve the hashing and pinning of some traffic to one leg in the bundle. This will provide extra resiliency to these peers as we will uplink from two switches instead of a single upstream.

Due to traffic being actively affected between a subset of peers, this work is being considered as emergency, and we cannot provide the standard 2 weeks notice.

To verify if your peering service is located on pe1.syd3 and affected by these works, please check our member portal (https://portal.internet.asn.au) to confirm what switch your service falls on.

We will be emailing technical contacts of affected services in addition to this notice.

Please contact peering@ix.asn.au or 1300 793 320 in case you have any queries regarding this notice.
