[MAINTENANCE] NSW-IX | Equinix SY3 + VDC-SYD01 | Switch Consolidation
Scheduled Maintenance Report for Internet Association of Australia
Postmortem

Please be advised VLL services at this facility (Equinix SY3) have been re-deployed and are now in-line with our network config generation which correctly applies our shaping policies based off your requested VLL speed, more details are available via: https://internet.asn.au/technical-guide/#speed-policing

If you experience any loss/congestion on your VLL service please ensure you check the configured speed and if required; submit a modification on your service to the speed you need via the portal - portal.internet.asn.au, steps are: https://portal.internet.asn.au/docs/services/vll.html#editing-a-vll-service.

We do not expect any issues from checking member VLL traffic beforehand, but felt it was worth throwing this up just incase :)

Scheduled
IAA Engineers will be mass migrating 10G ports at Equinix SY3 (syd3) to consolidate hardware, this is being completed as our recently installed 400G switch replaced the necessity for multiple 100G switches at this site. Our link to VDC-SYD01 will also be impacted by an outage.

Start: 21/Jan/2025 23:00 (AEDT)
End: 22/Jan/2025 03:00 (AEDT)
Window: 4 hours
Expected downtime: ~15 minutes per service port

Members with 10G service ports connected at Equinix SY3 and VDC-SYD01 should expect their port to go down during this window for around 15 minutes, affecting all services associated with the port: Peering, VLL, Extended Reach Peering.

Ports will be drained of peering traffic using BCP214 compliant filters before they are migrated. Filters will be removed once the ports are back online and stable.

If you are unsure where your 10G port is located, please login to https://portal.internet.asn.au to confirm if your port is within these facilities.

The work is expected to take about 2 hours. However, 4 hours have been booked in the unlikely event of an emergency.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this notice, please contact us on 1300 793 320 or noc@ix.asn.au.
